Cigarette Prices
If you are a smoker in any of the northern States, you have probably been outraged at one point or another about the price of cigarettes. Cigarette prices are always something that is being debated in state governments. As time goes on, governments seem to be less and less sympathetic to the plight of the smoker and the cost of a pack of cigarettes is always increasing. Consider this: how much do cigarettes cost you these days? How much did they cost you last year, and the year before; how about the year before that? Chances are, you might be noticing the pattern of constantly increasing cigarette prices in your area. Governments use cigarette prices to deter young people and older people alike from wanting to smoke, although this type of legislation and taxation is normally aimed at deterring young people from purchasing a pack of cigarettes. Cigarette prices usually vary by state, although the cigarettes with the best value are normally located in southern states. Even at discount prices, cigarettes are costly for a child to purchase, and the idea is that if they cost more than a five dollar bill can buy the younger smoker might not want to go so far out of their way to purchase them. Cigarettes are a nasty habit in many of the eyes of the government, and very few government entities have sympathy for American people who have to succumb to that habit each and every day.
The constantly rising price of cigarettes has a lot to do with the reason why many people are trying to quit the nasty habit of smoking. Society has changed from one mindset to another rather quickly; no longer are we in the mindset that smoking is a cool thing to do, a representation of true sexiness. These days, cigarette smoking is just a horrible habit that some people cannot seem to kick, rather than an object of admiration or affection.
The only way to truly escape the constantly rising price of cigarettes in this country is to stop smoking, or drastically reduce the amount of cigarette smoking that you do each and every day. It is important to just stop the habit altogether rather than work on reducing your use of tobacco as it has been proven that that is not an effective way to quit. Tobacco is rising in price for a reason; maybe you should consider what that reason might be.
